
Ahmad Fikri Assegaf
Fikri has been practicing law in Indonesia since 1992 focusing in restructuring, M&A, banking & finance and capital market.
He has extensive experience in banking and finance transaction representing local and foreign banks as well as investment funds in structuring and providing financing to Indonesian companies.
Fikri also works extensively in capital market practice through his representation of listed companies in Indonesia as well as the Government of Indonesia in private placement and public offering of debt and equity.
Fikri has been advising both buyer and seller in a number of acquisitions of Indonesian private as well as public companies of various industries such as banks, petrochemical, oil & gas, power, technology, mining and plantation.
During the 1998 crisis, aside from representing private creditors and borrowers in debt restructuring exercise, Fikri represented and work extensively for Indonesian Bank Restructuring Agency (IBRA). He advised IBRA on the restructuring of certain corporate debts managed by IBRA, take over recapitalization and acquisition of banks, creation of Bank Mandiri (now the country's largest bank), asset recovery measures as well as participated in the drafting of the Banking law and government regulation relating to IBRA.
More recently, Fikri has been involved in advising the Ministry of Finance in the preparation of Sukuk Law and representing the Ministry of Finance in the issuance of the first International Sovereign Sukuk by the Government of Republic of Indonesia. Fikri also involved in a number of credit recovery efforts in Indonesia advising both local and foreign lenders. He also represents the Indonesian Deposit Insurance Corporation (Lembaga Penjamin Simpanan) which is, in addition to providing provide deposit insurance for Indonesian banks, also tasked to restructure or liquidate ailing banks in Indonesia.
Fikri is a registered member of the Indonesian Bar Association and Capital Market Legal Consultant Association (Himpunan Konsultan Hukum Pasar Modal).
